Brand Strategy & Consulting in Saudi Arabia

Brand Strategy & Consulting in Saudi Arabia

Brand strategy for companies entering, growing or repositioning in Saudi Arabia.

We help brands compete in Saudi Arabia with a clear commercial system built around positioning, naming, portfolio architecture, audience definition, messaging and decision principles. The work is structured for real buying journeys, not generic “Middle East” assumptions.

Riyadh and Jeddah are treated as distinct commercial contexts. Strategy, proof, language planning, content and channel priorities can change by city while the brand remains consistent across the Kingdom.

Approach

Saudi market entry can expose strategic ambiguity very quickly

Saudi Arabia’s diverse customer base and intense category competition can make a brand’s weak positioning visible fast. A message that worked in one country may be too generic in Saudi Arabia, while a global brand may over-localise and lose the recognition it already owns.

Brand strategy should decide what is universal and what needs market adaptation. That includes audience priority, category language, proof points, brand architecture, naming, tone and the role Saudi Arabia plays in a wider Saudi Arabia or GCC plan.

We use consulting to resolve those questions before visual identity, campaigns or media spend. When the strategic answer is clear, creative teams have fewer subjective debates and commercial teams gain a stronger story.

Selected work

Our responsibilities

A useful proposal identifies the deliverables, languages, revision stages, approval owners, schedule and usage rights. Production, media, licences and third-party costs are itemised separately, and changes to the agreed scope are approved before additional work.

Project brief

Tell us what the business needs to change, which audience and market matter, what already exists, and who will approve the work. A launch date and an indicative budget help us propose a realistic scope.

Service Scope

What the engagement can include

The scope is built around the problem, not around a pre-filled package. The following capabilities can be combined where they are genuinely required.

Brand audit

Current offer, messaging, identity, customer perception, competitor language and internal inconsistencies reviewed.

Positioning

Target audience, frame of reference, value proposition, differentiators and proof translated into a usable position.

Market-entry narrative

What changes — and what should not change — when the brand enters Saudi Arabia, Saudi Arabia or wider GCC markets.

Naming & verbal direction

Naming criteria, shortlist development, message hierarchy, tone and key phrases where the project requires them.

Brand architecture

Masterbrand, sub-brand, service, product and endorsement relationships simplified for customers and teams.

Strategic brief

A decision document that guides identity, website, sales, campaign and content work after consulting ends.

Right Problem

When this service is the right fit — and when it is not

A strong scope starts by deciding whether this is the right service for the problem. That protects budget, keeps specialist work separate and prevents a broad agency package from becoming the default answer to every brief.

Use this scope when…

International businesses preparing to enter Saudi Arabia, Saudi Arabia or GCC markets.

Use this scope when…

Established companies whose product/service portfolio has become difficult to explain or sell consistently.

Use this scope when…

New ventures needing naming, positioning and messaging before logo and website investment.

Do not force it when…

If strategic decisions are already approved and the need is visual identity execution, the Branding Agency engagement is more direct.

Working Process

A defined process from brief to measurable output

01

Frame the decision

Define the exact strategic question rather than beginning with a vague “rebrand”.
02

Research context

Review customers, competitors, category codes, current assets and internal constraints.
03

Build options

Develop clear positioning, architecture or naming routes with trade-offs.
04

Decide & codify

Select a direction and translate it into message hierarchy and practical rules.
05

Activate

Brief identity, website, campaign and internal teams from the same strategic foundation.
Deliverables & Boundaries

Deliverables and responsibilities

  • Decision usefulness: A strategy should help teams choose what not to do, not just produce inspirational language.
  • Evidence and assumptions separated: Market observations, client data and strategic hypotheses are labelled so they can be tested.
  • Global/local balance: Saudi Arabia adaptation should not erase valuable global equity without a commercial reason.
  • Activation ready: Positioning ends in messages, proof points and briefs that creative and sales teams can implement.
  • Scope boundary: If strategic decisions are already approved and the need is visual identity execution, the Branding Agency engagement is more direct.
  • Scope boundary: Consulting is not a substitute for legal trademark clearance; shortlisted names should be checked by appropriate legal/registration professionals.
Budget & Scope

Project budget

There is no useful single price without a defined scope. The commercial proposal should show which decisions, deliverables, production responsibilities and third-party costs are included so different suppliers can be compared on the same basis.

Research depthStakeholder interviews, competitor review, customer research and category analysis determine the evidence base.
Decision complexityA single proposition is simpler than portfolio, multi-brand or cross-market architecture decisions.
Naming scopeBusiness, product or service naming adds territory development, screening criteria and linguistic considerations.
Market expansionSaudi Arabia-only positioning differs from a platform intended to extend across Saudi Arabia, GCC or wider international markets.
Implementation supportStrategy can end with a decision framework or continue into identity, messaging, website and launch implementation.
Quality & Measurement

Quality and measurement

Clarity

Can leadership explain who the brand is for, what it promises and why it deserves preference in one consistent way?

Differentiation

Does the position rely on a meaningful competitive choice rather than generic quality claims?

Decision usefulness

Can sales, design and marketing teams use the strategy to make faster everyday choices?

Scalability

Can the positioning support new products, audiences or GCC expansion without constant redefinition?

Saudi Arabia is not one generic market: Riyadh and Jeddah can require different proof, language emphasis, channel choices and buying-journey design.
Saudi Arabia: Riyadh & Jeddah

Market and delivery

Saudi Arabia is scaling across technology, tourism, logistics, finance, manufacturing, healthcare, entertainment, real estate and professional services. That growth creates demand for stronger brands and digital systems, but the useful strategy still depends on the city, sector, transaction value and buyer.

Brand Strategy Riyadh

Riyadh strategy work is often triggered by rapid growth, new ventures, regional expansion, transformation projects or a need to clarify the brand before large marketing investment. Positioning, architecture, naming and message hierarchy help leadership align commercial ambition with what the market should understand.

Brand Strategy Jeddah

Jeddah strategy can involve long-established businesses, hospitality and retail groups, family enterprises, service brands and businesses modernising for a wider Saudi or GCC audience. The challenge is often to retain trust while sharpening relevance, differentiation and future growth direction.

This page is intentionally written in English for international, regional and Saudi decision-makers who search in English. Arabic should not be treated as a mechanical translation layer. When Arabic copy, RTL design or Arabic-first campaign development is required, that language work should be scoped deliberately with qualified native review or client-approved Saudi partners.

Ali Tarhan Digital Atelier works internationally and does not claim an office in Riyadh, Jeddah or elsewhere in Saudi Arabia. Where on-site filming, local permits, fabrication, event access, talent, Arabic copy or other market-specific responsibilities are required, those items are identified in the proposal and coordinated with the client or appropriate Saudi-based specialists.

Agency Selection

Choosing a partner

Saudi search results contain local agencies, regional networks and international providers with very similar service lists. A stronger comparison is whether the team can define the commercial problem, separate Riyadh and Jeddah context where it matters, explain Arabic/English responsibilities honestly and connect positioning, naming, portfolio architecture, audience definition, messaging and decision principles to strategic clarity and differentiation.

  • Ask whether the consultancy will define the actual decision to be made before research starts.
  • Check how customer, competitor and internal evidence are combined rather than relying on workshop opinion alone.
  • For naming, clarify linguistic review, trademark responsibility and decision criteria.
  • Make sure the output includes messaging and implementation implications, not only a presentation deck.
  • Distinguish brand strategy from visual identity so responsibilities stay clear.
  • Choose a partner that can translate strategy into practical next steps for identity, web and campaigns when required.
Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you have an office in Riyadh or Jeddah?

No. Ali Tarhan Digital Atelier works internationally and does not claim a Saudi office. Projects can be led remotely, while local production, permits, Arabic language work or physical execution are coordinated with the client or qualified Saudi-based specialists when required.

Should Saudi marketing be English-only or bilingual?

It depends on the audience. English can be appropriate for international, B2B and some professional contexts, but Arabic can be essential for local reach and trust. Arabic copy and RTL execution should be scoped as real creative work, not added as an automatic translation step.

Can one strategy cover both Riyadh and Jeddah?

Yes when the proposition is shared, but the proof, sector emphasis, channel mix and content examples may need to change. We keep the brand system consistent while adapting the parts that materially affect relevance.

Can you help an international brand enter Saudi Arabia?

Yes. We can define audience priority, positioning, messaging and what should be adapted for Saudi Arabia while protecting useful global brand equity.

Do you provide naming?

Yes, when naming is part of the strategic problem. We develop criteria and routes, but legal, trademark and company-name availability checks remain with appropriate Saudi Arabia/legal specialists.

What is the difference between brand consulting and branding?

Consulting resolves positioning, architecture, audience, naming and messaging decisions. Branding converts that strategic direction into a visual and verbal identity system.

Work with our team

Our team works from Istanbul. For projects in Saudi Arabia, we agree the working language, decision makers, review times and delivery formats at the briefing stage. Shooting, printing, permits, media booking and other local services are scoped separately with responsibilities agreed before commitment.

The price follows the approved scope; media spend and external production are separate.
